I'm old enough to remember the first SS. It was so darn cool. They hung SuperSport on a beef-caked Impala 409. A few well placed gauges and a floor-shifter
that was topped-off with a big, white ball with the 4-on-the-floor pattern meant you had one of the go-fastest's in town.
My neighbor had one with Lake Pipes vented at the front door hinge, over-sized rear wheels that were "Cheater slicks" and a horn of some kind that sounded like whistling at a pretty girl.
The "SS" was spelled out: SuperSport ... and that's how it was referred too. Leon's Super-sport Chevy. He stayed unbeat until Mopar came along with that huge Hemi!
