When does the check engine light reset?

Default When does the check engine light reset?
Hello,
I'm pretty sure that my check engine light came on due to an old gas cap. I replaced it. The check engine light remains. Does anyone have an idea as to how long it takes to reset itself?

Bring it to the parts store and have the double check the codes and get them cleared. Most stores do this service for free . Good luck

If you live in Arizona, ill do it for free. I have an OBD scanner.
