Check engine light issue?
Sunday I tired to start my car and all the gauges went up and but the engine wouldnt start. After several attempts I left it alone.I thought it was the crank sensor and replaced it,still didnt work.So my mechanic used the OBDI 2 and got a P101 error if im not mistaken.Which ment i needs a Mass Air flow sensor.Replaced it and it worked like new.My issue is why didnt i get a check engine light on the dash? And is their any way 2 fix it? Every 1s oppion and thoughts are welcome Thanx....

There are conditions for how many consecutive times a code must be thrown before it pops the Check Engine Light.
Basically, you car does NUMEROUS diagnostics while you are using it. If one of those fails, it logs a code. I think many of them have to fail three times consecutivly before it lights your Check Engine Light.
I've been doing a lot of work with a Snap-On ODBII scan tool. It can find out information such as:
Codes thrown this ignition cycle
Codes thrown since last cleared
Current Codes
Current codes are the ones currently causing the Check Engine light to pop up. I'm sure that Snap-On scan tool can get more then that, but that's a pretty cool amount of info to access!!
