For the price they aren't worth it IMO.

IDK, my dad has a Diablo Sport tuner for his 2002 Mustang GT, and it DID make a noticiable difference...

I just got done trying a Jet Performance Module, and it fried my ECM, and I had to take my car to Chevy to get it fixed...

My advice (given to me by other members) get a custom tune if you really want more...

Or my personal advice after my experience, just do the basic bolt ons, and leave it alone. Now if you do lots of upgrades, you really need to get a custom tune to take advantage of these upgrades, but that means exactly that, GET A CUSTOM TUNE for your upgrades...

For the "basics" which I consider CAI and Exhaust, I did a lot of reasearch online, and found that if you disconnect you battery for 30min or more, then connect it again, your PCM will reset...and i've read that the OEM PCM is more than capable of adjusting to the slight differences of a CAI and Exhaust...

Be very careful with the power programmers, and EVEN MORE careful with the "chips" or "modules" (basically anything you just plug in, and get "performance")

Welcome to the forum. I have the hypertech programmer and it does make a difference, especially on the top end. I have had no issues and enjoyed it. That being said I will sell it soon so I can go to a custom tune. Don't pay full retail for one. I will sell you mine if you are interested.

Cheaper thing to do would to buy a canned PCM from zzperformance.com, they're only $100. But only do that after you're finished with your basic bolt-on mods. Or, as a lot of other people have suggested, find a mechanic locally who has a power tuner, make sure they have some experience with the 3800 engine too, last thing you want is to pay $100 for a crappy tune.

I was pretty hooked on the idea of Hypertech at one time, because they had dyno charts of their gains on the N/A SS, and they were cheaper than DHP. But I've seen videos of people who've used the Hypertech, I've seen the controls it gives you over your car, very basic stuff. And in the video the guy added headers, flowmaster exhaust, K&N intake, AND a hypertech power programmer to his 2002 Monte Carlo SS and he still ran a 8.0 second 0-60 time. The headers and cat back exhaust might have hurt his car's performance, but I can say one thing, the Hypertech sure didn't help his car.
