My First Car ?
Im 15 at the moment. My dad wants to get me a car in the next few months, i found a 1995 Monte Carlo LS with a few minor dents in the hood with a new Transmission, Rack and Pinion, and Starter. It has 123xxx. miles on it and hes asking 2k for it. I could get it and fix the hood thats not a problem. Does this sound like a good first car for me and a good price. My dads gunna put me on his Crown Vic so insurance isnt a prob.

I heard changing the battery on a 5th generation (1995-1999) Monte Carlo is a B!tch. My first car was a '97 Chrysler Sebring convertible, 150,000 miles. I liked it, first car and all, paid $2,500 for it, but after 1 year just about everything was breaking down, so I sent it to the junkyard, got $250 for it. Second car was my 2003 Monte Carlo SS, 54,500 miles, everything works fine, no problems at all. Of course I paid $10,000 for the Monte Carlo, so you get what you pay for. Not a bad car to be starting off with, just make sure you stay domestic, Chevrolet or Ford (Chrysler doesn't count as domestic to me anymore). But $2,000 for the car is decently priced, 123,000 miles, and these cars can go up to 200,000 miles if they're well taken care of.

Welcome to the forum man.
Sounds to me like you've got your eyes set on that 5th Gen. Its not bad on price and it can surely be built up ( L67 swap ). When my son get old enough. hes getting my 5th Gen. I cant see him in anything else but m car. Its safe, roomy, and above all...
A Monte Carlo.

Do your research on common problems with the Monte Carlo LS. It has a 3.1 engine, that is notorious for gasket leaking.
Check all the fluids, and go for a test drive. Then park and talk about the car so it cools down. Then check all the fluids again to make sure the owner didn't originally just "top off" some fluids that are leaking.
But if maintained properly you can have that car for a long time.

I had a 1995 Lumina as my first with the 3.1L
Lasted me until 182,000 miles before the headgasket went and I decided not to fix it. (I wish I did so I could have a winter beater )

Welcome to the MCF family.
I agree with everything said so far. You can buy cheapercars, and maybe you can talk them down a bit. But for $500, you get a $500 car (usually), and for 2G's, you get a car TYPICALLY in better shape.
