Thumbs down how to re-install factory cd/onstar/unt

i have a 2006 monte carlo ss that came w/a PIONEERhead unit! i purchased a stock factory am/fm cd /onstar/hands free unit that came out of a 2008 impala. i thought that i could plug and play this unit, but all i get on the display is the word: LOCKED! WHAT IS THE SECRET ON GETTING THIS UNIT FUNCTIONAL?:confused and thankful for all relevant info

On modern gm stereos there is only one true and correct way to unlock it. You need to go to a dealership (or anyone else) with a gm tech ii scan tool. Using the gm tech ii scan tool they can reprogram the radio for your car and take it out of theft mode (which is why it's locked).

I've read and heard about other "tricks", like opening a radio up and popping a chip off of it. Methods like that have draw backs.

Also the method to hit buttons and get a number from the radio, call a gm hot line and get an unlock code is a pre2000 gm radio trick.

Yea you will have to go to a dealer or find someone that has a tech II
