Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone have ever did an engine swap. I have an 06 Monte Carlo 3.9L and I would like to put a 5.3L SS engine in it. From what i know i need the engine , transmission , harness, engine and transmission ecu.
And info or help will be appreciated.

 

Just wondering, why the urge to swap rather than just buy a SS?

With Wbody prices so low, SSs seem to be listing about $5k around here private party (certainly with the potential to negotiate lower). So assuming your car had reasonable mileage and was in good shape, I'd think you could upgrade for the cost of parts for the swap alone. (Without having to do all that labor, figuring out problem areas that need to be addressed, etc)

If you're dead set on a swap, I'd really try to find a whole totalled car to buy rather than trying to piece together what you need. That way you know it ran and drove and that nothing will be cut or missing.
