Maybe they had some leftover '07's ???

Manufacturing plants located in Oshawa produce the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Impala, Buick Allure (rebadged as the LaCrosse for the U.S. market) as well as the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. The three plants have gotten top quality ratings by J.D. Power. Plant # 1 used to make the Monte.

Just to confirm what everyone is saying, the Monte Carlo is no longer produced. The name plate was dropped. 2007 was the last year for the Monte...

On Tuesday, June 19, 2007, the last two 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo models rolled off the line at the Oshawa Assembly Plant. The last two models were identical "SS" models with Precision Red exterior paint; Silver Rally Stripes; and Ebony Nuance leather interior. The two models features the "SS" 5.3 L V8 Engine with its "best in class" rated 303 hp (226 kW); 18" polished aluminum wheels; heated exterior mirrors; and AM/FM/CD and XM Radio"[4]

As other have said, the reason they dropped the Monte Carlo name in NASCAR was because Chevy dropped the name.

It's all about sales... GM doesn't care about the name of a car, they care about sales. Impala sold more than the Monte, therefore, here we are.

Default You Never know...

Well... In 1988, the talk was that the Monte Carlo was dead & GM
had no plans to bring it back. Well... look what happened! I still think
that If GM would bring back a rear-wheel drive 2 door coupe w/ choice
of V-6s & V-8's --> (Monte Carlo) People would clammer to buy it. Hopefully, with the new Caprice cop car coming out in 2011 -this could happen in the not-so-distant future!

Just my opinion. Thanks.

They already did. It's called the Camaro. They won't have two of the same cars, just designed differently in their stable in this economy. No one will buy it. I COULD see them coming out with a 2-door version of the Malibu and naming it the Monte Carlo, and it would then complete with the two door variants of the Accord, Altima, etc. But I still doubt that'll happen too.

We can all dream though.
