Richard Petty and Junior Johnson signatures
So I did something similar here as I did with David Pearson... here are some pictures.
Junior Johnson:
Junior Johnson prepared Mercury Cyclones and Ford Torinos for Lee Roy Yarborough, who won 2 races in 1968, and then went on a superspeedway tear in 1969 winning 7 races, sweeping Daytona, Darlington, Charlotte, and I think he picked up a win at Atlanta or something like that? I'd have to check... but here is his cars...
And the '69 Talladega...
And that leads to the next one.. King Richard Petty!!!
Petty won 10 races in '69 with a Ford, including the first race at Dover... but apparnetly tehy had a tough time trying to get a grip on the Fords in '69 after working on Plymouths for so long. He came up short in the championship run, second to Pearson as Pearson won his 3rd and final championship.
Thanks for reading!

You could try.. .the MontE Carlo didn't come nearly as close as the Torin oto resembling its race counterparts.. the ol 70's and 80's ones did though. And if you try it, there are a lot of good guys out there who drove Monte Carlos!!! Especially if you have a NASCAR edition, ti's worth a shot. A lot of the guys who drove mine are still alive, like Petty, Cale Yarborough, builder Junior Johnson, Dave Pearson, they're all alive.. Lee Roy Yarbrough died in a mental institution in 1980, Smokey Yunick, most known for his Chevroelts and Pontiacs in the early and mid 60's retired from NASCAR in like '70 or '71, but not before fielding a Torino for Joe Leonard. Wendell Scott was honored at Las Vegas for being theo nly black man to ever win a NASCAR race... and he drove a Torino at one time. A lot of the guys who drove these cars have gone into the old "Where are they now" file and no one has heard of them.... guys like Sweede Savage, for instance.
Smokey Yunicks Torino:
Donnie Allison won his first race in a Torino at Rockingham in '68.... best known of course for wrecking with Yarborough in '79 on the last lap of the '500
The late great Benny Parsons...
Bobby Allison is better known for driving Daytona Chargers... but he started out in '68 driving Torino's...
Sometimes I wonder if it would be easier to make a list of who didn't drive oen... Buddy Baker, Charlie Glotzbach... I do'nt think Pete Hamilton ever drove one, Bobby Issac who would go on to win the 1970 Grand National Championship (arguably because Ricahrd Petty had a bad accident at Darlington), always drove a Dodge, and the little known Richard Brickhouse... who I may do a little bti more research on when we get to Talladega, won the first race there in a Dodge Daytona. Chevrolet's restriction of something like no bigger than a 400 engine in a midsize car, exception being the Corvette, kept them from really making a competitve run... they made it up for it in the later '70s though.

Super cool autographs Duane - a couple of the best! That signed RP Torino is even cooler - I almost bought that one once off the Petty hauler. I kinda regret not doing so. I know the Brickhouse story pretty well. I also think that is a great name. Brickhouse. Who doesn't wanna be named Brickhouse? Who'd wanna mess with a Brickhouse?

Yeah, I know a lot of what happened with Brickhouse... just figured this wasn't the place to post it Talladegas in about 3 weeks, I might talk about it then. For everyone who's wondering what we're talkign about, they can look him up or wait in suspense until Talladega Thanks for the compliments guys, really appreciate it... I'm practically building a Torino shrine here.
