Welcome to Vegas, where collars will be looser, events more spread out and the costs, unquestionably lower than in Manhattan. For the first time since 1981, when the ceremony was moved to New York, NASCAR's banquet has a new home.

Default .......09 nascar season

......I think the reason that interest has dropped off is because
of two factors maybe more. But, yes the car that NASCAR is
running with now is'nt popular with most people. There is'nt a
true 2 door coupe being raced in NASCAR anymore. NO OFFENSE
to anyone who owns a Impala SS. It's just the whole mystique
of a four door family car racing on Sunday that does bother
some people. Just speculating.
Secondly.....Love him or Hate him.....Jr. is'nt winning. NASCAR needs Dale Jr. to win to keep interest alive in the sport. There
is plenty of other talented drivers out there but Jr. nation needs
their hero. I'm one of them but I have'nt lost interest. I was pulling
for Mark Martin anyway ( this year ).
It's debatable..........

My 2 cents:
We are HUGE NASCAR fans LadyT dominated and won her NASCAR fantasy league. We attend the spring races at MIS, and want to go to others soon.
BUT, I agree with SO many that NASCAR has become BORING!!! BO-RING!!!
What to do??? The billion dollar NASCAR question.

1. No one can argue with the safety of the COT. But there is NO REASON that they can't take that technology and adapt it to FACTORY SHEET METAL. If GM wants teams to use the Impala SS, then they weld the back doors shut, along with the fronts, no modifications WHATSOEVER to the sheet metal. As for aerodynamics, they can use spoilers, splitters, wings, canards, and whatever else they can bolt on to make it more aero-friendly, but NO HEET METAL MODIFICATIONS!!!

2. Use factory engines available in street cars as was originally done. Cubic inch limit, but look at the stock engines available in showroom cars, or at least crate engines available to the general public: GM's LS series including the LS7 and LS9; Chrysler's Hemi engines, and Ford with Shelby engines! WOW! Don't tell me things wouldn't be more exciting! Factory castings, and have at it! Fuel injection! Superchargers, turbos? Not sure there, maybe just N/A engines.

3. Jimmie. GOOD driver! Great??? I'll give him good, but Chad Knaus is the KING of crew chiefs right now. What to do? To me it's obvious! Put Chad in as crew chief of Mark Martin. IF Jimmie is TRULY great, he will STILL win. Give Mark that well deserved championship, and Chad can do it!

4. Dale Jr. He's SO over rated is sickening! His Dad WAS a great driver, but that's a WAS a great driver. Remember he hit the wall? Hard to cheer on a dead driver. Sorry. And Jr is just NOT the driver his dad was, nor is Steve Wallace the driver Rusty was. Just too much hype for Dale Jr.

5. Look at team sizes, financials, etc. Gone are the days of Alan Kawicki, and even Robby Gordon is struggling. Small teams can't make it, but the pocketbook shouldn't dominate talent. How to fix that? No good answer there.

6. Indy Cars. Look at that series. It's almost dead. Why? Cookie cutter cars. All the same engines and the same bodies and chassis. Not far from IROC, and look where that's at today (in peoples private collections!).

Am I wrong?

.......Wayne, my name is Richard.
I would probably agree with you on all of that. I am a stock car purist
at heart and I would love to see NASCAR go to real factory engines
with some minor mods to get the speed competitive between car makers. These new cars are fast but ssslllooooooww. They sound like they are struggling to go faster ? Safer, yes but it is getting just like IROC ( wish I had one of the TA's ) and that was boring.
Indy is boring. No creativity. And the NASCAR season is getting way to long
I'm a Jr. fan but realistic. He may already be past his prime
but if Knaus was his , crew chief things might be better ?
One other thing to consider, DEI was once the king of super speedways. Their secrets are out and everyone has caught them and lapped them over an over.
NASCAR needs a change but what ? I don't know ?
Anyone else have an opinion...?

I don't watch NASCAR very much... Well, hardly ever to be honest. It bores me, watching cars go in circles for hours. I will say that I was disappointed this season; I was hoping that Mark Martin would finally win a championship. The most I see NASCAR is on SportsCenter.
