He was. And Truex was fastest in the next practice. So MWR is probably good enough and I'm all in:
1. Mark Martin
2. Mark Martin
3. Mark Martin
With no one else picking him, that lead sure would open up if he can win

I don't really like making picks this early in the yea.r Jeff Gordon is consistent here, and he is usually a good driver early in the season then falls off as the summer heat fades into fall. Kyle Busch is another driver like this, hot for 26 races, then fall apart in the chase. Edwards is hit and miss at the beginning of a year, but you never know when he will hit a stride. And everytime that 99 switches sponsors, they quit winning for awhile...
So as you can see, I base my picks upon history. I've done something I normally don't do. I've poured over the statistics, looked at trends in history and momentum... looked at practice speeds.... and for now, I wonder 2 things
1) Is Hendrick going to pick back up and be strong this year?
2) Is this penalty going to effect Jimmie Johnsons mentality for this race?
When Knaus got suspended in '06, they won the Daytona 500. When Knaus got suspended in '07, they won the championship. I've got to say the answer is now.
So I'm going to consolidate a little bit... not a complete all in though. I want to win races, since I only won one last year, but I still have points in the back of my mind.
1) Jimmie Johnson
2) Jimmie Johnson
3) Kyle Busch
I may edit and take Jimmie Johnson, or switch my double to Kyle Busch. May take Jimmie instead of two Jeff's as well. I'm just not seeing what I want to see out of Carl Edwards in practice though.
EDIT: Yeap, taking Jimmie. Just not seeing what I realy want to see out of Carl, and not seeing what I want to out of Jeff either.

We currently stand at 13 people in the race as well. We had 24 last week, but if one year history holds up, this is about how many we can expect to stay on for a segment and hopefully a year. A few regulars still haven't picked, so I think we can hope for 16-18 people anyway.
