Well, I know how we've always enforced the rules. We are always betting on a bunch of botched NASCAR calls. There probably won't be a week were NASCAR doesn't screw something up. Of course, I don't believe Jimmie should have been fined. It makes no sense to me. Last year Kurt Busch was caught out of spec after qualifying and they allowed them to fix the car and keep his qualifying spot too (and of course, once the car was legal he ran like a bag of poo). I don't see where Jimmie/Chad screwed up. They never even drove the car.
I think Duane and I dropped the ball here. Previously we have seen guys fail inspection or something and NASCAR has warned us that there will be penalties on Tuesday. I'll usually warn everybody and Duane usually mentions it in the run down (that time JGR was caught with the illegal oil pans on all 3 cars comes to mind - a few members changed picks I beleive). The suggestion then is to change your picks cuz your stuck with the penalty if you choose that driver. I do remember NASCAR assuring us before this race the Chad Knaus would be penalized and Hendrick annouced his intent to appeal before the panalty was assessed.
Its not my call to make, but I'd penalize away Duane. I know thats not nice. But we shouldn't take this game to seriously either. Only in character do I really take it that serious - just for fun. This game is full of pitfalls and this is part of the game. How fun would "Snakes N' Ladder's" be if you took out all the snakes?
Its hard to be neutral when your in the game. Would you have penalized yourself Cowboy? And would you remember this at the end of the year if you lose be 10 points? Even in the back of you mind?
But I'll look the other way and never say another thing about it if you don't want to penalize.
Its just a game.

Brent is going to go all in.
And if I am to be consistent and provide as realistic of an experience as possible, then I really do need to hand out the penalties. On the same token, what if Silverfish or bblackstone miss the title by 10 points? At this point, it's on my mind either way however it goes.
I'm too tired to think rigth now. My high school I'm teaching at just went to final 4 in the state of NC. I was at the game 45 minutes away tonight. WE came from 15 points back to win that game tonight.... amazing. Now we're on to the final 4 game.
Even though NASCAR is not consistent, I feel like I need to be. I'll make a decision tomorrow evening.

Ok I just caught up on the whole penalty thing. I will rally against it, not just because Hunter will lose points, but because it didn't even have anything to do with the race. If it was a race infraction, then so be it as t was last year with Kyle Busch, but since this wasn't, I would let this one slide. But you are the Man and we live by your rules. Take a poll..
Upon further evaluation, I had forgotten to check to see that bblackstone had actually revised his picks since hte race was going to be at night. This means that the only one who actually had Jimmie Johnsons was poor ol' Hunter.
But I think in the name of consistency, I have to look back and copy the rule here.
6) Any penalties that any of your picks earn points wise for the entire year will also be taken away from your own points. This includes any comments made by your driver that end up in points deductions, such as when Jr. cursed in victory lane and was docked points, or any points deductions due to illegal parts on your choices car, such as when Clint Bowyer was docked 150 points at New Hampshire in 2010. Any penalty involving probation or money only will not result in any points loss.
The rule says, "Any penalties." It doesn't say "penalties accrued during the race." So right now, I'm doing what NASCAR is doing. And I'm going to edit the rule. I'm going to let Hunter appeal to the forum. Right now, I'm starting a separate thread for an appeal to gather opinions on Hunter. At this point, I wish to refer everyone who wants to discuss this topic further to check the forum Iam linking in this post. I'm going to continue to think this one over. I'm really tired right now. Four hours of sleep because I was up so late watching the Daytona 500, 5 hours of sleep last night... not looking like any more than 5-5.5 tonight. Whew... student teaching takes it out of you!!!

I'm waiting to see a little practice and qualifying. But I'm thinking All In with Mark Martin. He's been really good here for yearS. But I am having difficulty rallying behind a MWR Toyota. Martin was really good in the 500 and was more assertive out there then the cameras were showing. He just about had the halfway money but Bowyer hung him out. But that was there and this is here and here is better for Martin anyways. If Junior still looks sharp in practice I'll keep riding that wave...
