Default Water Pump on 3400

So, Merry Christmas to me. I get to replace my water pump tomorrow. I have a couple of questions on what I should get.

Napa has 3 different water pumps listed
a) Tru-flow Water Pumps, Cost $18.00
b) Severe Duty Pump (Remanufactured), Cost $45.72
c) Standard Pump (Remanufactured), Cost $31.50

1) Can I use the b) Severe Duty Pump (Remanufactured) or is the Housing different?

2) Any benefit if I can and do use it?

3) If I cannot use or get Severe Duty Pump (Remanufactured) right away, should I just get the cheaper a) Tru-flow Water Pumps that cost $18.00 or the c) Standard Pump (Remanufactured) that cost $31.50?
Thanks in advance

Well the cheap pump isn't exactly my first choice either. Does anyone have any input on the Severe Duty Pump (Remanufactured)? The price isn't exactly the issue and my friend works for Napa so I get my parts slightly discounted. I added the price just for info purposes.

On the 3400, it really doesn't matter which pump. They will all get the job done.

I've never bought a pump from Napa, it's always been Advance, Murray's (now OReilly's) or Autozone.

I have seen pumps where the impeller is stamped steel, they work fine. And I've seen where the impeller is cast aluminum and those work fine. I would prefer the cast aluminum pumps since the design of the impeller looks like it would do a better job forcing coolant through, but again, I have experience with both designs, zero issues.

I have seen some studies done on the 3800 with a stamped steel vs cast aluminum impeller and the aluminum impeller has proven to be superior.

The only thing you should be concerned with it if the seal does it's job. Outside of that if you want to feel that you are putting a better pump in, opt for the cast aluminum impeller.

Thanks guys. I wouldn't have asked about a water pump, but I have never seen the option for a severe duty pump before on a car like this. In my experience, with my Buick, Severe duty or Heavy Duty means better and stronger

Although these cars go through some severe temperature changes through the seasons, a standard water pump would work just fine. If you are Racing your car on a regular, you know, like avoiding NY State Troopers on I87 or I90, Lol, then the super duty would be worth it.
