unknown fuel rail leak
Hello again my fellow Monte Carlo lovers. I noticed my 2001 monte carlo with the n/a 3.8 was surging so i stated to do some digging around looking at my air filter fuel rail etc... and if you click on the picture you can see a port on the back of the fuel rail (side close to the firewall) it comes directly out of the fuel line and into the fuel rail my best guess is it is the return line and id like to find a new replacement end that connects to the port as i believe this is the reason my car is surging. Am i right in assuming that this is the return line? does anyone know where i can find a new replacement?

Do you smell Gas?
If not... I wouldn't think thats the problem...
Are you getting any codes?
Could just be a clogged fuel filter... or failing fuel pump..
Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail to be sure...
Bad/Dirty TPS (Throttle position sensor)
Could also be a clogged Catalytic converter..
Keep us posted... as you continue to diagnos and or find the problem..

Ok so i did some looking around found a replacement in my local pick a part junkyard. after replacing the surging has stopped, so i believe the cause of my surging was sporadic lose of fuel pressure/ possible moisture build up. This is the first time iv seen this part "go bad" or even heard of something like this happening. and it seems that the only way to find a replacement around my area at least is to go to a junkyard or buy a nylon fuel line repair kit which can be very expensive.
