Default Transmission replacement

I'm about to tackle removing and replacing the transmission in my '03 SS. I've done side case access repairs before, but complete removal will be a first for me. I'm getting some conflicting info. from guides. The factory manual says to completely remove the engine frame (cradle), but others say to just lower the driver side. This will be a driveway repair. Has anybody else out there tackled this? Any tips are appreciated.

I answered your pm as well but in short. The engine cradle needs completely removed to remove the trans out the under side. Once you remove the engine cradle you will need to realign the car.

Got your PM and replied back. Thanks man, I think we're good to go once I get the trans at my house. Waiting for the JY to remove from car.

Would either of you guys be able to help me get my transmission out? I have removed a majority of bolts but it won’t budge. Can you help me with the locations of all bolts?

Hi Luke,
My bet is that you missed the bolt connecting the transmission to the engine that has to be accessed from the passenger side with a 3 foot socket extension. It's in there deep and hard to see, even harder to put back in...lol.

I agree. Is this visible from any location? Which way is the best way to get this out?

I would also consider replacing that bolt if you tried to lift the engine with it still attached. Youd probably be fine if thats the case but better safe than sorry.

Will do. Do you have a picture or a specific spot I need to be looking at to get this bolt out?

With the passenger side wheel removed, aim a flashlight into the darkest area where the engine and transmission meet. The bolt has the same head size as all the other mating bolts, but is longer.
