Default ticking sound in reverse

The problem I am experiencing is as such:

The car makes a ticking sound while in reverse
-can be felt through shifter
-rapidity increases with speed

this problem started not long after i got the car, admittedly while i was still learning to drive and used drive instead of reverse in a parking space with a concrete divider but i digress.

when shifting into reverse the car does not tick, only when moving, either under its own power or an external power such as gravity on a slope.

update:does not occur in neutral
