Question about heating system.
Hi there, I've recently had a pretty bad leak of coolant. This has to do with a hose that is attached to what i want to call the heater. Yet when I look at web sites like gmdirect looking at the catalog or runnin through the advanced auto parts site then I cant seem to find the part name or pic anywhere. However, we all know that the main problem with leaking on these 2002 Monte carlos are those elbows they are made of cheap plastic. Which is why I decided to swap them out with the aluminum doorman elbows. When I did that unforutnatley the coolant hoses in the back of the heater part require a bolt that screws down the hose to the part. One of the bolts snapped rather easily on me. I put evertying back together and everything was working fine. Except for today when I lost nearly all of my coolant becuse of that issue. So my question is what are those hoses in the back called where can i get them is it possible to get a part number I'm hoping? Also, what is the part i'm referring to called exactly I belive its part of the heating system. I'm looking all over in the cooling / heating parts sections of GM and other Auto parts stores and am at a loss. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you are talking about the two hoses for the heater core. And the only thing with a bolt that could break off to my knowledge would be the hose clamp (a lot of them are a metal band, wraps around the hose and you tighten a screw to get it to hold on).
Can you get a pic of the parts you need to replace so we are sure we're talking the same stuff??

hi again, I've got the part off I needed to pull it off anyway. Although, I believe we are describing the same part.

Ok for those that get stuck thinking this is a heater part of some type. It's not I realized that the belt tensioner is part of this part. Looks to be known as a General Motors water-passage tensioner. Looking at Advanced Auto right now and its called:
Litens Automatic Serpentine Belt Tensioner -Original Equipment Quality
Part No. 999558A
There's probably a core charge so rather than try to drill the stuck bolt out I'm just going to replace another part. Best to have a drill press for that job anyway. I highly doubt it comes with the bolt that holds down the hose clamp. Maybe I'll luck out at the hardware store.
