Temp Gauge or What?
Hello,
Own a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS that has right at about 120,000 miles on it. Tonight I've noticed that my temp gauge is going crazy. About a couple months ago while I was driving a 2 hour trip the temp gauge was all the way over to the cold reading of the gauge.
I really didn't think much of it and even a week or so ago while sitting idle the temp guage was all the way over to the left and never budged.
Well tonight the temp gauge tries to go back to reset or whatever and is stuck in the middle, while driving to work tonight I find the temp gauge was going almost to red (260) and would not go back.
I didn't notice anyengineissues, so just tobe safe I turned the heater full blast but I didn't noticeany abnormal issues from the regular normal.
What do you guys think?
Thermostat?
Coolant Temp Sensor?
Cluster Panel?
Also while we're at it my fuel gauge doesn't work either on the instrument panel? Easy way to fix?

It's a possibility that both sending units are bad. But I think what the fuel guage is is actually a true fuel guage. It has a "bobber" type thing that sits in the fuel tank, and a voltage regulator hooked to this "bobber". The "bobber" floats no top of the fule, and the farther it falls, the mroe resistance it gives and the lower your fuel guage goes. I don't know if thats a true "sending unit" like hwat is in your Water Temperature sensor. I'd think if both are going bad, i'ts the cluster, although both guages could just be going bad at the sending unit. The chances are much more probable that it is your guage cluster though.
