So did you end up buying it? $3,000 for a new transmission is overpriced, but to be expected from the dealer. I see race transmission on here for $1,600, can't imagine install would be more than $500 or so, that'd be almost $1,000 less.

Well, it was through a dealer so I did expect it to be expensive. It is a new transmission, plus a warranty on the transmission, plus labor.
I did go there to ask to see the metal, but they had all of their lifts full and told me I couldn't see it.
The worst part about all of this, is that when we called the place where I bought it, they said my warranty was expired. By 2 days. We are trying to work something out, because I am still under on the miles by about 1000 or so, and we think the solenoid valves were bad to begin with, and that when we asked them to check everything, they really didn't.

2 days over on the warranty, but under the milage...I would get GM involved on this one. I would make sure to mention that you asked to see the metal shavings in the old tranny, and they would not let you...If you call GM, they will open a claim, and they will contact the dealer. I'm pretty sure that GM will work with you on something since it was two days out of warranty. At minimum I think they should pay at least half.
