Default Replacing seat warmer

Here is my problem...my driver side seat warmer is shot, i think I fried something. It was working fine then I noticed right after I sat down one time and started the car I could smell something burning. Now my drivers seat warmer no longer works...First off has this ever happened to anyone else before...and secondly what would it take to replace the seat warmer?

Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

The heater element is sewn into the leathers. $277 list price. Not sure of the discount price. That is the ONLY way to fix it is to replace it. Are you sure it's the bottom and not the back? Do a continuity test on it 1st. The green connectors under the seat. The yellow are the air bags. Stay away from them.

my 02 driver seat went out 2 weeks ago. on gm parts direct.com the price is $210.00 plus shipping. my local gm dealer will not go any lower than $354.00. then they take the seat to an upholstery shop and have them do theinstall another $200.00. I found a local interior shop and they will do the install for 150.00. so it loks like I need to save up about 360.00 and bypass the gm shop. good luck on fixing your car and if you find a better deal please post it.

Damn I figured I would have to take it to an upholstery shop. I did notice it seem to get really hot near the lower part on the back of the seat right before it stopped working and the burning smell started. Is it possible that by sitting down I cut through the insulation on one of the wires and it shorted out? I guess I have some more investigating to do...

I just checked on gm direct and in the last 4 days prices went up about $20.00. your ss cover is $236.00 plus about $44.00 for shipping.

The dr side heaterin our 02 stopped working but no burnt smell. Is there anything else it could be besides the heater element itself? Just in time for winter.

Best thing to do is unplug the heaters from the car, and from each other, and do a continuity test on BOTH the seat bottom and seat back, to determine which one went out. 90% of them are the seat bottoms. I believe it's the green connectors under the seat, and by the back of the seat for the back.
