Remote Start doesn't work
#4
I'm having the same problem but I know it's because of a gas tank code. Code readers says that it's not sealing properly but I've changed the gas cap and still no luck. Is there anyway to get around the code thing to get it to work again? This is a big pain in the a** I swear...I keep disconnecting the battery for a bit to reset it the computer thing but it's too cold here in Michigan to keep doing that.
Should I just drop in an aftermarket unit?

Mine has worked sporadically since I've had it. Like drock1979, the chime goes off without (or with) key in the ignition when only the drivers door is open.
On rare occasions the chime does not sound and I can get a remote start. Remote start will not work if there is a key in the ignition lock (and some other variables..), when the car thinks there is a key in it will not remote start.
Dealer checked, found no codes and wants to sell me a new lockset at $500. Could be the microswitch that the key hits and turns on/off the chime. Said dealer mentioned that locksmiths that replace the key can mess up the switch. Since my car shows signs of being a repo or lien sale and I only got one non-oem key that was freshly cut, I tend to agree.
Still would rather have $500+ in my pocked instead of remote start.
If I knew how to bypass the key-in-lock switch I would test it that way.
