Default Radiator cap problem

I had a new radiator installed. I recently tried to remove the cap. However the tabs on the cap don’t seem to line up with the radiator openings. It’s a 2001 LS 3.4. Obviously it was put on. There has to be a way to to remove it. My cap is a Stant with s pressure relief lever. And I have lifted the lever before I tried to remove it. Any recommendations.

You did push down before turning, right?

Yes, I pushed down. I’ve just never experienced any issues like this before.

Did it turn at all when you pushed down & tried to rotate it?

If not, the only real option is to force it if you need to get it open. Just keep in mind the radiator neck is plastic so you could end up breaking it in the process.

Default Radiator Cap.

I was able to get it off. I pressed down harder than I did previously, and it turned enough to get it off. Thanks for your advice.
