Thanks for the writeup - seems like a good job to do - mine is leaking quite badly.

i know its an old post but thank you! i just searched 15 pages of threads to find a decent post about whats involved in the pump on a 3.8. Ive been working on cars for 15 years but have actually never done a ps pump one a monte. So before i told my buddy i was gonna crawl around in the snow to fix it, i wanted to see whats involved.

Same here, I know this is an old thread but the power steering pump instructions are very very helpful. Great write up!!!! To make life easier while changing this part, I had to lay on the engine to bolt the psp down. I know, I know, don't laugh. I did whatever worked and the job is completed.

Im doing this now and have found this very helpful too.

Ive found it easier to remove both lines through the wheel well and also after the pump is unbolted to put it down there and remove the pulley from the wheel well.

No need to unplug the electrical connector here.

Removing the pulley makes it effortless to remove the pump out the top, then put the new pump in and put the pulley back on through the wheel well.

most of the probblems arise when people put the pully on with a hammer or heat the pully up with a torch to install
