Default Phantom Electrical Issues! SOS!

Having some crazy phantom electrical issues. When I go to turn the car on, sometimes nothing happens whatsoever. No attempt to crank over or anything. A faint whirring sound can be heard for a few seconds, only the CEL comes on, and then it just gives up. Like nothing happened at all. Usually happens with the earlier starts in the day.

And then other times when I go to turn the car on, and it does work, right before it starts up a pop or zap can be heard. This sometimes resets the clock on the radio to 12 or it shows a completely wrong time. This started happening about a month ago. I don't know if the battery is bad or not; I've had it for less than a year.

Today the car went to start, clicked a bunch of times rapidly, and like shorted out. The key fob wouldn't work, radio couldn't come on, no lights turning on in the car or on the dash, and it couldn't be started. I opened the door, and it kind of made a pssssttt sound, the security light came back on blinking, and then I could finally start the car.

SOS!!!

I did not read any of the links SpaceRider posted...

With that said it could be corroded battery cables or loose main ground connection.

Check....
1) Check battery (engine off) with a multimeter for 12v
2) Check alternator with a multimeter for 13-14v with engine running

Is it possible that a really worn out key with very rounded, worn down edges will affect recognition of the key and make theft deterrent fuel enable signal lost occur.
