Need a new rad, what's your experience?
Hello All,
I'm looking to use everyone's experience here today.
I have a 2000 MC SS, in need of a rad change out.
What's the best deal you've had, and what if any were the problems or snags you had in the change out?
I'd rather use your experience than bust my knuckles, they already drag on the ground too much.
thanks for your collective help,
John

Thanks KidSpace.
I'm sure the change out won't be too tough. I read thru the list you sent and I'm a little worried that I've been topping up the rad with GREEN stuff! I had some left over for my 79 Serria sbc 400. I'm guessing I should change that too??? Any other advice?
Also is it better to go to a local parts shop or bulk racing shop?
thanks,
John

If your Monte had 'Dex Cool' (the orange stuff) and you've been topping off w/green stuff, you probably should have your cooling system flushed really well. Mixing the two can form a sludgy substance you don't want gumming up your engine.
I had some radiator repair work done last year and switched from Dex Cool to the regular green stuff. No problems since then.

Dave,
Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure to have it flushed out.
Does anyone else have a preference to coolant and an explanation?
Just looking for som education....
thanks again,
John
