hey all.

new to your forums great info here. I have a 2000 LS Monte. Been a great car. I used the search function to solve my first problem which was to restore power to the rear/aux lighter. It kills me that i did not know there was a fuse panel on the passenger side of the car (i knew about the one on the driver side). Any ways the rear lighter works now so i can charge my phone but the front lighter doesn't. I replaced the fuse on the driver side which is the 10a fuse for cig/aux. Checked the v/mv at the lighter and im getting nothing. checked it at the fuse box on the drivers side and its getting juice. So hence the title of the thread.

Anyone willing to help me out?

I know there is an opening behind it in the back but that doesnt leave me much room to get my hands in there.

first off welcome and its really not that hard but i dont ahve time to go looks as i havent done this in about 6 months so i will post again after work when i can look at the car

You have to remove the console. There is a screw or 2 in the bottom of the compartment in the back, and also under the dash in the middle. Then put the parking brake on, pull the seats back, put the shifter into low or drive, and wiggle the console out. Twist it to get it over the shifter, if I remember right. Been awhile.

 

alright as rockn said u will have to remove the center console...the only screw that u have to remove is the one in the tray right below ur radio. Next open the center glove box and pull on the center console...there are two clips holding it right at the back where it connects to the glove box. it will take some muscle to get them to unclip but if u hear cracking ur prolly breakin sumtin so still be careful...u will then have to but the shifter into 1 or 2 and then pull the entire console back and and up...then remove all the electrical plugs and u can spin the console and pull it over the shifter...this is mostly by memory so make sure to check everything before u jsut start yanking

 

I have taken my dash off a few times for the install of my stereo and what not. The lighter is well below the stereo, the heating/AC unit. Below that is the empty hole for your junk then the lighter. I have one of my cross-overs for my speakers right there so i will pull it out and look.
