well it sounds like all are very good ideas. i wouldnt wander too far from the fuel filter. are you running a stock carb or have you changed that. either way i would replace the filter because they are cheap enough and you do not know what crap is sitting in the bottom of your tank. also check your timing it could be a little retarded. i know i just reset it in my truck and it made a really big difference. the feeling i was experiancing with this was like i had low fuel pressure from a pump going bad or a filter plugged. another one of my experiances with this type of problem was with an s10 i had. it had the stock carb on it and every time i wanted to burn the tires off i would dump the clutch and it was like i had it in third and it bogged way down. i replaced the filter and it was like a whole new truck. basically you may check fuel pressure and it may be ok, but its not the pressure you are producing, its the volume of fuel you receive to the carb. one more thing to mention is that its as if the fuel prices go up so does the amount of crap that is in the fuel. i would also recommend a ac delco filter if you do replace it. i learned that right away. good luck.

Thanks for all the advice. I was talking to a few more guys about it and I was told that it could be a timing issue as well. One also suggested that the float in the carberator may be to low, thus causing it to not get enough gas. I asked him why it would have done this prior to my carb rebuild and he said a lot of times dealers (that is where it was rebuilt) put the float back into its original position, so if it was bad before it probally could be bad still. Makes sense to me. I wont be able to tackle any of this until saturday. I thank all of you for your input. Hopefully It fixes my problem and I wont need anymore suggestions come monday.
