I recently did a brake job on my Monte because the 'LOW BRAKE FLUID' light came on in the DIC. One of my front hoses was damaged by road debris and leaking. It also states in the owner manual that the 'LOW BRAKE FLUID' light will appear if there is a problem with the brake system:
