HELP Please!
2002 SS with 114,000 miles. I am having a weird problem with my traction control and abs lights. I have searched around and no other threads I have found seem to match my problem. My issue is that my Service traction system message displays and my abs light and trac off light are on. I scanned for codes and got "Brake pump motor short to ground" So I found the ground wire for the abs motor and sure enough it had worn through to bare metal. I fixed the ground wire and the light was off for about a week and it came back on. The code was the same one I had just fixed. The ground wire is not shorting out anymore and I cleaned the connection to the body of the car. Now the really weird thing is when I park the car on a steep hill with the front higher than the rear the lights don't come on  I have no idea what to do and I really don't want to take the car to a shop. Does anyone have any ideas?

do u mean that as in the brake light comes on so check the fluid? |
If the ground wire is securely attached and there's no sign of a short anywhere then it is probably an internal short in the ABS pump motor. :(

Yes if the fluid is low the ABS light will come on.

Thanks for the reply's guys. The brake fluid is full. I really hope that it isn't the pump. I heard that they are expensive to replace.

Isn't it just the BRAKE light that comes on if fluid is low
Edit: Before resigning to replacing the ABS unit (the pump is internal and the whole unit must be replaced) you may want to try cleaning your ground connection again. To insure a low resistance connection you may want to sand the contact area to expose the metal, then coat both surfaces with OxiGuard or similar product. It will also help to deter oxidation. If that doesn't do the trick then (unfortunately) you'll probably need to replace the ABS unit. |

The DIC would illuminate a 'Low Brake Fluid' light.

I've only ever seen the BRAKE light illuminate when i was low on brake fluid.
ABS and Trac Off are typically just related to the hub assembly / ABS pump / Ground stuff. |
