Default Heated seat kit

Hello everyone,

How is everybody's 2014 going so far!

I need some help, over Christmas I got a heated seat kit for my 2004 Monte Carlo Ls, now I was just wondering if anyone knew how to go about wiring it in,
Someone told me to just wire it in from battery but I don't want to do that I want to wire it so that when I start my car the switch for the heated seats will work I don't want to have to remember to make sure they are off every time I shut my car off, if anyone has any suggestions on where to wire it in that would be great!!!

Thanks

Default adding seat heaters to monte carlo ls

I have a 2000 ss pace car and recently had a drivers heated seat that didnt work correctly, so i did a bunch of testing the relay and resistance to the heater to figure it out. I found out a few things about how the heated seats from the factory would work, and would suggest installing yours in a similar way. Under the seats from the factory there is a relay on those with heated seats (maybe those without also- not sure as mine have heated seats). A relay will allow you to use a low power signal wire, such as a keyed wire with a switch on it to turn the system on and off, but still draw power from the battery. I bet you could get the switches and the "faceplate" they are on between the cupholder and the gearshift lever too if you wanted.

Heated seats are a pain to work on but so wonderful to have. If you have any type of factory wiring under the seats i could find the diagram i used to help you connect the heated seat to the right wires.

If you wouldn't mind finding the diagram that would be great
Thanks

Hmmmm..... im going to have to suggest a relay while wiring power from the battery. All of the power going into your car is designed for the draw the normal systems put on it. Adding a high current draw like a heated seat is a bad idea. I dont know exactly how the LS fuse block looks under the hood by I know the SS' have a few extra wires in our harness. (Im guessing the draw of the kit is under 30 amps) If you have a B+ coming off of the battery before the fuse block then run a 12AWG wire through a 30amp inline fuse from that into the passenger compartment (there's a little rubber grommit on the passenger side)

ForumRunner_20140123_065344.jpg

Run that into the switching side of a SPST relay. Then run a 12AWG wire from there to their to the heated seats. Then run the ground wire back through the rubber gromit and ground it in your engine bay. NOTE: ALL THIS WIRE MUST BE AT LEAST 12 AWG OR MORE IF DEPENDING ON THE CURRENT DRAW.

next, buy an "add a circuit" for a mini blade fuse and connect that into the fuse for your radio. Then run a 18 or 20 AWG wire from the add a circuit to the switching Side of the relay then you can ground that on one of the metal bolts behind the glove box.

This way there will only be power to the heated seats when the radio (aka the car) is on.

Also I assume this is something that goes on top of the seat and not SS heated seats.

It's a kit that the heating pad goes under the cloth and on top of the foam.
Thanks for the information, it's a big help!
