Default Head Unit Swap

Im probably going to be considered retarded for this but i pulled out the factory head unit in my 2000 Monte LS and cut the plugin off and attempted to hard wire it. I connected all the appropriate wires and hooked up the switched wire to a toggle switch. It turns on when the switch is flipped and everything but there is no sound produced. Can anyone help me? There are two orange wires that are the same but i did figure out that one is a power wire and one seems to be the control for a lot of the dash features. There are also stray wires. Purple, pink, gray, white and blue. Please help i need my music!

I am not sure what is wrong, but if I were you, I would splice the factory connector back together then run up to walmart/ parts store/ stereo shop and buy a wiring kit.
