rear brake noise
my right rear brake makes a noise like the pads are slightly rubbing the rotor. Only hear this at first start off. Sounds like swoosh swoosh. Could the pads be sticking in the slides? And if so how do I fix this?
Hi Going4Gold, and Welcome to the Mone Carlo Family.

It may be the adjusters(slides) sticking. When I do brakes, I make sure they move freely and lube them with dielectric grease.
I changed the front brakes on my 1980 pickup last fall, and the sliders were seized on the calibers. I had to pound them out with a punch and hammer. Then had to clean them up with a scotch brite pad, and greased them before i put them back in.

I've done all that twice. It's the right rear and it doesn't make the noise the complete rotation of the wheel. Could I have a warped rotor on the rear? It only makes the noise for about a 1/4 part of the rotation of the wheel.
I would have to say a warped rotor is my guess.... how long have they been on? It makes sense for the fact the back rotors are a lot thinner than the front and have a greater possability of warping. Another thing I could think of is your pad is wearing funny which would lead to be a slide not functioning right.
rotors have about 50000 miles. The pads look good I don't see any uneven wear. It's like something is out of round because it doesn't make the noise for the complete rotation of the wheel. I've never experienced a rear rotor warping. If it was the slides wouldn't the noise continue for the complete rotation of the wheel? I know when a front rotor is warpped you get a vibration when stopping. I don't have anything but this noise.
Well I've had the pads off six times and greased the slides. Also the the caliper slides. I still have that noise but not the entire rotation of the wheel. This noise comes and goes. Mostly after you drive a few miles you hear it more. Something is definitely rubbing part of the rotor but I can't locate the problem. Driving me crazy
