Looks like an alternator voltage booster. It only raised my voltage by like .1 or .2 (they said it should raise it by like .5), so I say it isn't worth it

I got one installed. First of all, be very, very careful with the connectors, specially the one plugging into the alternator. The wires can easily become detached. The adapter raised the car's voltage by about 1v, nothing spectacular, but it helps if you recheck the engine bay's grounds, replace the alternator's wiring with 4 gauge (if it's not already) and add the big three to the car's electrical system. Of course, these steps are only for cars with serious voltage drawing stereos systems in them. If your wife's car doesn't have one I wouldn't bother buying the adapter.

my wifs car (2004 Pontiac grand am gt-1 ) has a stock alt and she is running a single 10 and 1000w RMS between the mids and highs and the sub I thought it might be essayer than doing the big 3 on her car to get some easy power but as all ways if it it to good to be true it probably is it sounds like on this one

You could try the voltage booster, with an alternator re-wire also you should be close to 14

As long as it doesn't go lower than 13V she should be fine - other options include an overdrive alternator pulley...
