Default General Tire Tech Recommendation Needed

I have a 2006 Monte Carlo LTZ V6. Curently, I have 235x55x17 tires on them. They're about done and ready to be replaced. My step mom pulled some tires she bought a couple years ago out of the basement. They're brand new, but they're high performance tires Potenza RE750 205x40x17. Will they work with my car? I'm not sure what she bought them for. She didn't say. The tread is nearly new if not new. I'm not really concerned with the increased or decreased traction I will get with them. I just need new tires. By the way, will it increase or decrease my traction? I believe I have a cheap tire on there now that I bought from a DIYer.

Will they work? Anything I need to know about them if I put them on? I did a little research on the tire. I'm just not sure if it will fit properly on the wheel. If it does, then I would just have to worry about them looking a little funny compared to the old ones, correct?

Way too small. Those are for small cars like a Honda civic sized car.
You'll want to stick with the stock size for the most part.

Them are very small!! Don't do it, the weight rating probably isn't even high enough.

Not a very good idea... (Goodyear Tire Manager for 15 years). Should stick with the stock tire size, traction has more to do with compound and tread contact patch then tire size. That is as far as a non sports car is concerned. When it comes to racing , entire different monster..... You can find tires pretty inexpensive on Craigslist, I found 4 brand new tires for my Monte SS for under $150. Good luck... Mjclemm
