Arrow >Buying 2007 MC SS, What problems should I look for ? Thanks

Hi. this is my first visit and post. I am buying a 2007 MC SS with 41,000 kms (24,600 miles) I am picking up my one owner mint beauty on Thurs. I can purchase a warranty with the car but it's expensive. Does this particular year have expensive repairs or problems that would make a warranty something I need? I am buying the car from the large dealership where it was originally bought and was checked by the GM techs before being placed on the used lot. You always wonder if a mint car like this had problems and was dumped by the owner. I was relieved when I was told she (yes a little old lady owned the car) traded it on a new Camaro. It is burgandy with a silver stripe on the bottom and has the 5.3 V8.
Your comments and advice would be most welcome. This car will not be a daily driver but will spend a large part of it's life in the garage and driven only on Sunday under a clear blue sky.

Hi `Moe & Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family...
Sounds like you found a super low mile, one owner Monte Carlo S.S. The last production year the Monte was produced
It's always great to have a good warranty & I would consider it if the price is right...Please check back on your thread to see what our owner's of your model S.S. post on the problems they've encountered.
The 07 is going on 6/7 years old...

Explore the MCF & you will find a lot of information on your S.S.
Look forward to seeing pic's of your Monte S.S.

EnJoy the MCF & we look forward to your future contributions...

Hello Moe! Welcome to the forum. I have a 06 Monte and I brought the extended warranty and never had to use it. However I baby my Lil Deuce a LOT I never drive her in winter and use road armor when I drive any distance. I do let go on the speed time to time (Did I say that?)

You need to ask your self some questions to decide if the warranty is right for you.

How many miles per month will I put on her?

Will I drive her in extreme weather conditions?

How will I drive her (lead foot or like grandma)?

How long will I keep this car?

Does the cost of the warranty outweigh your tolerance of taking a gamble?

The only major repair I had with the Deuce was the steering and that was covered by a recall (This may not be an issue with the 07s)

Other problems our 7th gen Montes are prone to are:

Transmission issues (weak transmissions)

Oil usage (typically in Montes where the DOD is still enabled)

I have never experienced the above issues but my DOD is disabled

Good luck and enjoy your new ride!

I plan on driving it very careful and keeping it a very long time. The warranty will cost me $3,000.00 for five years and 60,000 kms (36,000 miles). Seems expensive but if the transmission is weak and the engine is prone to burning oil it may be worth it. By the way what is DOD and how is it disabled?

Thanks for your help and advice. I bought the warranty and hope I never have to use it. Now it would be nice to find a car club in the area to meet and drive with. So far no luck. I have only had a love affair with three cars and I have had many. The first was a 1973 Volvo bought new and kept for seven years, a 1988 Mazda RX7 also new car purchase and then the Monte Carlo SS. It is nice to be in love again.
Regards, Moe
