Fuel Tank Capacity
I would have to agree that the reason you have fuel in the tank when the gauge reads empty is so you have reserve to make it to a gas station and due to the accuracy of the gauge.
Running your tank empty isn't a good idea. The pump uses the fuel for cooling, and running the tank low allows the pump to overheat. This can lead to premature pump failure. I always fill mine when it gets to 1/4 tank.

Well my fuel gauge goes down from F to E but the next time you restart the car the guage read 1/8 fuel so i figured that was the reserve system kicking in and then when it reached E again your definitely out of fuel
Agreed 100%. Although I get a little more ridiculous and fill up at 1/2 tank.
I think the gas tank on my 1999 is stretching out or something. I remember a long time ago, it would only hold like $25 bucks of gas. Then a few years back, I was able to but $30 or $35 into it. Now I can easily put $45 into the tank. Weird, huh.
