i know on my 02 ss, it's right in front of the fuel tank...towards the front of the tank...just make sure that the fuel line fitting that screws into the filter isn't too terribily rusty...if it is, you may have to repair the fuel line

the 04 has one quick disconnect and at the other end should be have the screw in fitting...the quick disconnect is so much better

the problem with the screw fitting is the rust...especially here, where road salt rusts the fitting to the filter resulting in fuel line repairs...

The '00-'05 Monte and Impala, regardless of engine type has the filter in the same spot. I have seen two different styles of "quick" connects, luckily, neither style has given me any issues.

And I completely agree!!! That filter is in a BAD spot and gets salt abuse badly.

One tip I'm currently testing out, after you change it and the fittings are tight, pack grease around the exterior of the fitting. I've been told by others that have tried this, when you go to change the filter again, wipe it off and should be pretty well preserved. Time will tell.
