Default Electrical Issues

My 01 Monte Carlo SS is now having some electrical issues.. First my Dash lights do not work randomly. One night they will work fine, and them a couple of days later they won't again. This happens with the headlights on auto, or if I manually turn them on with the switch. Also, The radio, miles, and driver information center displays are very dim when the dash lights decide not to work. They are at normal brightness when the headlights are off. My factory remote start has also stopped working at the same time as the lighting issue. I have checked the fuses, and found them to be OK. Electrical issues are not my strong point, especially in new cars.

I would have the BCM tested. Usually electrical craziness is the first sign.

Yeah, I'm thinking its the BCM. I am having random stalling issues with it too. I think its all connected to the BCM. It still needs the engine fire recall to, so I bit the bullet and made an appointment with the local Chevy stealership on Thursday morning.

Took the car in this morning. The random stalling is due to a faulty crank position sensor. The electrical issues are being caused by the remote start. It ends up that the remote start in it is an aftermarket one, and the computer system in the car is not happy with it. There was an off switch on the remote start unit. When they tried to shut it off, it caused the security system to lock the whole car down, not even the headlights would turn on I guess. they said they can just unplug the unit.

It also has a transmission code in it. Something about the pressure switch in the trans is defective. When I heard $800.00 to fix it, I told them to just take care of the remote start and the CPS for now. I will take it to a local transmission shop, that does excellent work, and have them look at it.
