Default Ear piercing whistle

My car has developed a wonderful in-cabin whistle.

As soon as I crack a window, or the sunroof there is a whistling sound from somewhere in the dash. I have also noticed the sound when turning on the ac or heat, and can feel a slight breeze from the vents when the ac/heat is off.

It seems to me that something isn't sealing or closing correctly, anyone have some thoughts? the noise is very annoying.

have you ever locked your keys in your car???

maybe a previous owner???

when they pry the door open it moves the hinges slightly and doesnt let it seal up nice.

also, they make these nice candles that get all the wax out of your ears. use the buddy system.

im pretty sure that its normal to get a very slight breeze while driving with the fan off and the wheel set to vents.

Make sure yiour sunroof is sealing up right. Also heck around the roof trim, on each side of the sunroof (where roof rails go) and see if it all sits flush.
Air coming though is normal, just try to pinpoint where it is coming form and go from there.

I think your sunroof is probably ok because when your crack the window open the air pressure inside the cabin changes and allows more air to flow through you HVAC system and cause the whistle. I agree with checking your cabin filter and also looking into the vents. I think maybe something has been sucked in there and is causing the whistle. A loose ventialtion duct could also cause this. Turn the car on and crank the fan and see if you can pinpoint an area.

I replaced the filter a couple months ago, but will make sure it is seated correctly, it may have bounced loose or something. the seals on the sunroof are fine, nothing looks off up there, I'll also check the blower motor and make sure it is sealed tight along that gasket on the bottom.
