Default Dash Lights wont work at night

The radio display and Gear position lights work during the day but when it is dark my entire dash and console is without lights. Any clues?

Have you checked to see if your interior dimmer switch is turned down?

Yup, I have. I tried it in both auto and manual mode and at night I can turn the overhead dome light on but the dash lights still don't come on.

Do a Test to determine if the fault is at the Bodywork Control Module or in the Wiring Harness and Fuses.

When the Instrument Panel Lights are OFF >> Test the Output of the GRAY Wire >> Coming-out of the BCM. The Gray Wire IS the Power Supply Wire to the Instrument Panel.

Inst Lites OFF / NO - 12V (Dead) @ Gray Wire = BCM Fault -or- Bad Ambient Light Sensor.

Inst Lites OFF/ +12V (Hot) @ Gray Wire = Problem with Harness, Fuse or Rheostat Switch Controlling Inst Lumination

Had the exact problem and fixed it. Theres a loose wire in behind your dimmer/light switch. Take off your dash (which is a lot easier than you think its like 5 screws and 3 clips, you might have to move your steering column around) and then theres 2 or 3 screws holding in the switch. Take em off and unplug the wire harness. Youll probably notice it right away. It might even have melted the plastic around it a little too. If you can resecure it somehow it great, however if you cant youll need a new one. Brand new from somewhere like autozone its about $130. However if you have access to a junkyard you can get it for much less. Ive noticed a lot of monte carlos have this problem for some reason.

I'm having the same problem but I noticed that the rear defrost don't work either. So I would think that would rule out the a switch? 2003 SS.

Thanks...

I read something about a body control module, is there a rely or fuse for that?
