cut out or downpipe first?
the reason why the ls4 guys put the cutout there is because the y pipe reduces down to 2.25 or 2". so you want it before the y. i dont know how much room there really is on the downpipe for a cutout not to mention im going to assume your car would stink having the fumes pumping right under you. this is usually acceptable on a hot rod. not so much on a car from this era. for what the cutout is going to cost you, it would be far easier, and cheaper to remove the mufflers and straight pipe it. if i had to get a cut out i would get the manual one. nothings worse than the motor burning out on it and having to buy another one, or having something get caught on it(this happened to on guy on tech).
Buy the DP, sit it on a shelf for a couple weeks and let it look pretty. During that time think about whether or not you want the cutout or not. By that time you might have the $$ saved to buy it if you decide to and then you can have all your exhaust work done at the same time saving on labor cost at the shop.

hi i plan on doing both mods here real soon. gonna get either a hogan dp or one from zzp and a cutout from dmh. my question is if i cant afford to install both at the same time. what should i get installed first or does it not matter. also a07 monte as far as cutout is 2.5 or 3"? thanks as always guys!
I believe they are 2.5". What engine do you have ? That may make a difference... Mjclemm...

I've sort of conditioned myself over the years so it's not such a torture for me now to have parts laying around.
