hello about 6-7 months ago my dashlights went out...all of them except for the P R D 2 1 and mileage but those went extreamly dim, only at night will those and the radio lights come on. the dome and runners are all fine i checked the fuses none are out i pulled the one that controls them and the whole dash went out i put a new one in and i had the same problem....what is the problem?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! its an 02 monte ss please help cuz im stumped....


every now and then the lights will come on until the car is shut off but then go back out again....in the 6-7 months they came on maybe 4 times

 

If you have an Ambient Light Sensor ... I'd say that its signal isn't getting to the Body Control Module for some reason.
My 04 Monte has an Ambient Light Sensor on the dash close to the windshield. Yours may be there or on the mirror.
Make sure it not blocked.

Try covering it with a black cloth and see if it does anything when its covered-up.
When its covered-up ... your dash light should come on and the headlights should transition from half-power DRL's to full brightness.

If that's the problem ... you'll need troubleshooting on the Sensor or the BCM.
