Default Cant get inside of my 06 Monte

I have 2 of the original remote dongles that both dont work at all (no lights flash at all which makes me think the cars battery may be dead) and the only key i have for the ignition (which doesnt work in the driver side door) and the car is locked so i cannot pop the hood. Any tips on how to either get the doors unlocked or the hood popped?

Question

You should be able to contact the local GM dealer and with the Vin# they can have a key made from GM and get it to you.
I am not sure if you can engage the hood release from beneath the front of the car or not. Will the key open the trunk? if so you maybe able to push the split seat forward to get inside the car that way? Hope you are able to solve the problem. Good Luck

Fun fact. In 2005 they took the trunk keyhole out of the Monte Carlo.

I assume your ignition cylinder was changed and you never got the doors rekeyed as well?

Do you have any of the old keys laying around? I would also recommend getting a new key cut, or just calling and say your keys are locked in the car and having a person come out and get you into the car.

Okay I recall all the rentals I had were missing that as well I always requested a GM car if possible. I used to have several rentals every month for the job. Since I retired they have down graded my level of rewards. never got a chance to travel for pleasure to use any free bee things and now they forgot about me.

Hey Thanks for the help guys, i tried every single key i could find in the door and none fit, and as said in the response, there is no trunk key hole.

My last question before calling a locksmith, does anyone here know if AAA would cover the fees for a locksmith or be able to get me inside the car?

Not sure on locksmith cost.Since you stated you think the battery is dead here's a trick to charging without popping hood. Jack car up and connect the battery charger or jumper cables to the positive on the starter and ground wire somewhere metal on engine., a charger would probably be easier. I know you can do on a V6 for sure and would guess A V8 would be possible.Good luck

You can jimmy a coat hanger thru the weather strip of the window and pull the door handle.. Or what I have done a couple times is with a coat hanger with a little hook at the end, grab the bottom of the lock switch and pull it up to create the "unlock motion".. But thats only if you have power which you said you dont think you do..

Good luck./

EDIT: Dont try to bend the hanger prior to inserting it.. Bend it as you need to after youve got it thru..

All just a suggestion tho.. Its worked for me a few times as I said..

I am not sure about locksmith but a car mechanic can do it better for sure and get you inside your car.

AAA will only reimburse for lockouts. $50 to $150 depending on membership level.

I like the charge/jumpstart from under the car - never thought of that.

$50 isn't a bad deal but if you visit nearby locksmith store then it might cost you less than that.
