A/C + Rad Questions
Hey,
So I have a 2001 MC SS 3.8 Limited Edition, and I had to replace that Rad support, by doing this the hole front end of the bloody car had to come apart and both the rad and AC Condensor had to be replaced and well replacing that consits of letting the Freeon go out of the system, all lines on my system we're fine before I discounted the condensor (even though It was pretty dented up) I was wondering If I would just be able to buy a can of refill at CND tire and refill it myself, or do you REALLY have to have some special device to suck that crap out?
Also, the transmission line going to my rad is liking out the cylinder, a friend of mine told me to take it out and rap it in teflon tape and red screw it in and see if that helps.
Thoughts?

Not sure with the transmission line leaking, as for the a/c it would be best to go to a shop and have it done, unless you have a vacuum pump to evacuate the system, and get all the moisture out, the a/c won't work properly if moisture is in there, and it can damage components as well, the a/c will work but it won't work as well as it could. As for recharging if you have a full set of refrigerant gauges, and know how to recharge it properly you can. If not then its best left to someone who knows, using those cans you can overcharge the system, not good for it, and it seems like most of them have leak sealer in them, which will kill your compressor and anything else that has a hole in the system. I'm not an hvac expert just using knowledge I've learned. If it was my car I would have a shop do it, good luck.
Yes, A/C needs to go to a shop. System needs to be under vaccuum to get all the air out but most importantly the moisture. A system WILL NOT take a full charge without being under vacuum first. That and it will work like crap.
FYI, $10,000 fine for venting refrigerant to atmosphere, so don't make a habit of it.
