Default Battery Removal: Need Help

Hey guys so before I store my car I'm going to remove the battery since I cannot put a trickler on it, so I looked through the Forum for awhile and cant quite find what I'm looking for anyone got steps on removing the battery, I've only done one in a 86 Camaro (just remove pos and neg and pull out) and one in my Sunfire (don't remeber lol). Thanks in advance guys.

pull the wires off, neg first then pos.

then remove the fender brace, there will also be a bolt on the engine side of the battery that you need to loosen because it holds in the battery, once those are all off just pull the battery out

Yeah I was going to say that fender brace is the only thing in the way. Unbolt that and the battery will pull right out once disconnected like trewyn15 said. The 00-05 is quite a bit more forgiving space-wise, with the 3800, when removing the battery. Can't say the same for the 06-07 with the 5.3L that's crammed in there a bit more.

Awesome thanks for the help guys, lol I would still take a 06 or 07 SS over mine if it had the same paint job and the V8 but I guess it's lucky for me I have the 3800 if its a bit better to remove the battery lol.

I personally like the looks of the 00-05 better. But I would like the V8 too. So I may have to do a V8 swap at some point. Battery removal on the Montes is the same as on the Grand Prixs. I've done them both and they're pretty simple. It's more of a minor annoyance with the fender brace than anything.

I agree I like the look of the front of them better, love the crest on the 00-05s, and the script Monte Carlo lettering, the newer montes remind me of a monte with an Impala front clp still like them though.

They can be a pain, Trewyn is right about the little bolt, but it's actually for a wedge shaped piece of plastic, so once you remove that you should be able to just tip to battery out.

If you remove the fuse box cover and unscrew it you can kind of shift it over to give that extra room for the 06 SS. It was such a pain when I did it on my Dad's.

The 04/05 Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS with 3800 supercharged are harder to remove battery because of extra belt and pulleys, I had to move fuse box to get my battey out ..
