A.B.S and traction light

hey, i have a 2005 tony stewart edition monte, i have a ? ... i went on a 3 day vacation and when i came back home i got in my car and when i started it the chime started going off and when i looked at the dash my A.B.S and traction light were both on steady. i want to know why that happened, before i take it to get serviced. i dontknow but would changing the pads fix it??????

I have the same problem...its either a ABS harness or a ABS sensor has gone bad...

As far as I know, ABS and traction control are in the same leagues as far as wiring and computer and such are concerned, so it could indeed be a bad sensor, or somethings up with the computer (not very likely, though). See if you can get a diagnostic reading from it, but before you do, why not test out the ABS and traction control to see if they are truly malfunctioning (try to do a burnout, stop really hard, etc...lol) i don't believe changing the pads would do any good, unless they need it, because I don't think there is a sensor for actual brake pad wear...it would be nice though... It could just be a wire, though, too, inside the wheel well that got worn or shorted or chewed.
