Post alternator..swap possible?? (3.4)

hello everyone,
my alternator is going bad to the point if i have my seat heater on high and the heat on 3 my low battery light turns on. ohh and forget the rear defroster..
so before i go to auto zone and buy a new one for $165
is there a possible swap for a higher output one under $300 would be nice?

i was reading this thread, now i know its (Toyota) 3.4 and not 3.4 (gm) but the guys used a 1995 CADILLAC DEVILLE WITH THE HEATED WINSHEILD, it has a 120 amp idle output and 140 amp at highway speed...

You can use an AD244 alternator (off a chevy s-10) they are higher output. Or buy a 220 amp 3.8/3.4 Chevy alternator off of amazon

As I understand, if it fits, you can use it. Getting a slightly higher amp alt if it's not a big deal price wise is not a bad deal.

Default Just curious

I've been wanting to do this swap also... and I'm wondering if maybe I can swap the housings of one alternator to the other for a more direct bolt on.... just a thought... has anyone done this? Or is it even possible...

Honestly, it’s really the center point. The beauty of idler tensioners. Just means the belt may be a little tighter. Go for the higher amperage if it has one available. Like what the 3.8 has. Research research research.
