So I was driving home today and my airbag check light came on. Not sure what that is all about. Anyone have any idea why it could be going off? I have an 06' Monte Carlo SS if that helps

 

How many miles are on it? Some cars have the air bag light come on at a certian milage so they can be checked

 

Mine just crossed over 58k

 

mm mines was on when i bought mines, looked under the driver seat and found that the wires for it was fried (wires that lead to a yellow harness) i spliced them together and havent seen that light since...hopefully that helps or just get it checked out

 

Mine will sometimes cycle between "SERVICE AIRBAG SOON" and the seatbelts not buckled warning light (no chime or message, just the light..) with every power cycle.

If I get the seatbelt warning at one startup you can bet the farm that the airbag warning will appear on the next start.

Then it goes away so I don't have to think about another $600 repair that improves nothing in the ride quality.

 

What all do they service on there airbag? and does anyone have an idea how much a service costs?

 

I had service airbag light come on once on my 04 Silverado...

Turned out it was the sensors up front under the bumper... They had rust in them thus causeing service airbag light to come on...

Replaced them both and its no longer an issue...
