advice on battery change
2002 SS.
My battery is just about at the end of life.
So I go to Advance Auto Parts and ask them for a new battery...which they even change for you right there.
But the guy says it is marked "labor intensive" in his computer. The explanation he gives is that removing the battery may result in blanking out the computers and the car won't start again even after the new one is put on.
I just left. He wanted to hook the car up to machine that keeps power in the car while the battery gets replaced. But somehow I don't trust this guy and think maybe he's making a big deal out of nothing.
Anyone know the truth of this battery deal?
Thanks in advance.

RE: advice on battery change
I agree.
Have you personally had to change out your battery though? I want to just go buy one and stick and in and see. But I'd like to hear from at least 1 person that's done it themselves.
Thanks!

RE: advice on battery change
Interestingly enough I decided to field this question to my fav service writer. ( I just happen to be going in tomorrow for some warranty work)
Anyway, read your manual on setting the Anti Theft Security system password. From what I am told you will have to enter your code on the radio when you power back up.
Your advanced guy might not be so far off...
Let me know how it goes...

Yeah, those three bolts that hold down that fender cross bar are pretty labor intensive!
