Default 98 monte carlo 3.1 bypass pulley help

Hello all! I recently purchased a ac bypass pulley for my 98 monte with 3100 motor. The dorman part number is 34217. Im lookin at it an the kit gives me two brackets but the bolts that come with it arent nearly enough to fit thru both brackets? How da heck do u install this thing? I know how to remove my ac pump but where does it bolt to? once i remove my ac pump the threaded bolt holes are gone unless this is supposed to bolt to the engine block???? Any help an pics would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

First, any reason you're removing the compressor?

Second, I have not messed with these bypass pulleys, though when I had the 3100 in my Grand Am apart, I was toying with the idea (my A/C does not work, car is too beat to fix it, I was tempted to pull the compressor, the coils in front of the radiator and other associated stuff to lighten the car, my stopping point was it is a daily driver and I could not find a belt and belt routing that would allow me to do it without the pulley you have).
My guess is it bolts up the same way the compressor bolts up. You may need to re-use the compressor bolts. I know when I changed a compressor on a 3400 (same basic motor as a 3100) it had a spacer that was used with the compressor. The bolts for it were REALLY long. You might not be able to figure it out without ripping into it first.

When I bOught my car the compressor was removed and it has this pulley in. Like Jerry posted I believe it attaches to the block. I think that's how I remember seeing it

Yes this is what I purchased however on my bracket the AC does not bolt up like what your diagram shows. On the engine bracket (#2) it includes a C shaped part of the bracket that holds the compressor with three short bolts (exactly the same size as the ones shown in the new kit) which are threaded into the compressor. The compressor bolts to the bracket (#2) not to the engine on my setup. So not sure if i need to find more parts or?? Thanks for your help so far!

Im removing it due to it is locked up and my neighbor recently lost his job so does not have any extra income to spend 200 on a new compressor. Im giving him the labor for free so he may go out soon and look for a new job but I told him I wont put a junkyard compressor on since who knows how long it would last and this is really his only other option. Ive never really done these b4 myself hence the help I need lol. Only first heard about them this past month.

OK, I was curious. I can't say I've heard of people using them much (if at all). But a seized compressor and a cheap answer, that's just what this pulley is for.

I honestly think you'll have to pull the compressor off and look at the entire picture. It has to bolt up to the block, as I have NO idea where else it could bolt to safely work with the belt. I speculate the original bolts from the compressor will get re-used.
